Donald L. Heaney Donald L. Heaney is a graduate cum laude of the University of Wisconsin Law School. He has more than 40 years of legal experience, with a major focus on business litigation. His clients include religious institutions, manufacturers, the petroleum industry, professional individuals, and a wide spectrum of business entities. Don has represented religious institutions in clergy malpractice and sexual misconduct cases and has defended legal malpractice claims. He has represented patent owners and alleged infringers in the federal courts. Don was appointed by Governor Thompson as special counsel to represent the Wisconsin Board of Regents in a controversy involving the open meetings law. He is a past president of both the State Bar of Wisconsin (1985-86) and the Dane County Bar Association. His knack for storytelling, his sense of humor, and his eloquent way with words were reflected in the columns he wrote as president of the State Bar.
