Shana R. Lewis

Shana R. Lewis, a partner with the firm, earned her B.A. in Political Science and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin in 1996 where she graduated with distinction. In 1999, she received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School where she graduated cum laude. During law school, Shana served as an Articles Editor and the Senior Note and Comment Editor for the Wisconsin Women’s Law Journal.

Shana has experience representing individuals and employers in public and private sector employment law. In this capacity, she has appeared before the Wisconsin Personnel Commission, the Department of Workforce Development Equal Rights Division, and the Department of Workforce Development Worker’s Compensation Division. She has also represented clients in public and private sector labor law, appearing before various arbitrators and hearing examiners with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission and the National Labor Relations Board.  Shana is co-chair of the firm’s School, Municipal, Labor & Employment Law Team.

Shana is a member of the Wisconsin and Dane County Bar Associations, as well as the Legal Association for Women and the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association.

Shana volunteers as a Supervising Attorney in the Unemployment Compensation Appeals Clinic, an organization that pairs law students with indigent clients in need of representation before the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Unemployment Insurance Division. She co-teaches the Educational Law/Media Relations course offered in the Doctor of Education program at Edgewood College.
 

Shana holds a BV®[1] rating by Martindale-Hubbell, indicating a high level of legal expertise and professional reputation, as rated by her professional peers.  Additionally, for the last few years, she has been selected as a Wisconsin Super Lawyers Rising Star.[2]


Shana served on the Board of Directors for the Madison Repertory Theatre during its final years.  She has continued her efforts to support the arts in Madison, by working with the Friends of University Theatre in support of the University of Wisconsin Theatre and Drama Department.  Finally, Shana is an avid golfer and active member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
