Richard F. Verstegen Richard F. Verstegen, an associate with the firm, earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1991 and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1997. Rick’s practice focuses on general school law, with particular emphasis on labor relations, collective bargaining, state and federal wage and hour law, public records, pupil records, and employment law. He has experience counseling school administrators in these areas and representing school districts in grievance arbitration, in complaint cases, and in representation cases. Rick is also the co-author of the School Law chapter to the Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. Before entering private practice, Rick served two terms as judicial law clerk to former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice William A. Bablitch. Rick is a member of the Wisconsin and Dane County Bar Associations, the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association, and the Education Law Association. He is admitted to practice in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. In his spare time, Rick remains active by spending time with his wife, Kristin, and his son, Nate, and by participating in various sports, including basketball, golf, and tennis. Areas of Practice |
